Beginning Friday is Celebrate Fairfax! Children’s stage, art stage, beer garden, carnival and many stages that have a great line-up for. Uno Dos Tres Con Andres and The Great Zucchini are just a few of the kids favorites who will be on the Children’s Stage. Check the schedule so you don’t miss them.
Beauty and the Beast is also playing at Wolf Trap Friday-Sunday. Get a seat or bring a blanket for the lawn. Daytime and evening performances.

9:00am-2:00pm: 7th Annual “Truck Touch” at RFK Stadium (Lot 7)

Summer’s most popular free family festival allows citizens to get hands-on with city’s infrastructure and emergency vehicles. The DC Department of Public Works invites the public to attend a free, citywide “Truck Touch”. Come climb on packer, sweeper and boom trucks; sit atop MPD’s Mounted Unit’s police horse and maneuver the levers of a police chopper; ride Segways, and test drive electric sedan vehicles. Residents also will learn how potholes are repaired, sewers are vacuumed and received information about vital city services. DC’s Citywide Truck Touch features vehicles from the DC Departments of Public Works, Transportation, Health, Employment Services, Parks and Recreation, Fire and Emergency Medical Services, Homeland Security and Emergency Management Agency, the Metropolitan Police Department, and the DC Water and Sewer Authority.

Experience Manassas at its best. This family celebration of rich railroad history features train memorabilia, specialty vendors, and live performances.You can even take the kids on a train ride to Clifton & back with a Frozen Princess!

Celebrate children, art, and all things fun at the 20th annual Imagination Bethesda. The festival takes place on Auburn & Norfolk Avenues. Activity tents line the streets, face painters bring butterflies and pirates to life, a stage of live entertainment will have the whole street dancing and more!
10:00am-2:00pm: Reach’s 2nd Annual Literacy Carnival at Eastern Senior High

Organized by an incredible group of teen volunteers from a local youth literacy program called Reach Incorporated. The event includes reading-based games where your kids can earn great book prizes, book readings as well as some informational tables, including the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, Shout Mouse Press, and DC Public Schools. It’s sure to be a fun event for kids ages 3-grade 3.
10:00am and 11:30am: Baltimore Symphony Orchestra presents Music Box Concerts at The Music Center at Strathmore

A brass quintet will perform the swinging tunes of Joplin and sparkling music by Handel to celebrate what makes summertime great: sunshine, the beach, ice cream, swimming and more! The Music Box Series is a unique music program for young children ages 6 months to three years old and their families. Each performance features pre-concert activities hosted 30 minutes prior to the show by the BSO and partner organization Ready-at-Five, a non-profit that works to ensure that all Maryland children are ready to learn by age five. Sunny, the zoo’s sole orangutan, is delighted to get a new roommate, but things don’t go smoothly when Licorice first arrives. Sunny likes to be loud, but Licorice prefers to read the newspaper. And Licorice likes to keep things tidy, but Sunny keeps making a mess! When the zookeeper leaves behind a radio, a curious thing happens — toes start tapping and arms start swinging. Could music bring this “odd couple” together? Plays through June 14, tickets are $8.
