Featuring special performances of My Grandfather’s Circuis by Zany Umbrella Circrus and a masquarde salon by Project Enlightenment, this celebration will higlight some of the D.C. area’s best art, dance, and music. This FREE, amazing adventure is inspired by the exhibition American Journeys: Visions of Place. All ages are welcome.

11:00am-5:00pm-Persian New Year Celebration at Freer and Sackler Galleries (The Smithsonian’s Museum of Asian Art)

Dance, play, and feast your way into the Persian New Year at the Freer and Sackler Galleries. The museums’ sixth annual Nowruz celebration features free attractions for all ages—including Haft Sin table displays, “fire” jumping, chess and backgammon, cartoons from Iran, musical performances, stories by Xanthe Gresham, hands-on activities, and traditional Persian food. Cartoons from Iran: Drop into the Meyer Auditorium during our Nowruz celebration to see a selection of beautiful, charming, and amusing animated films from Iran. Using only images, sound, and music, these cartoons tell fantastic tales the whole family will enjoy. The program is approximately 60 minutes long and will run continuously.

1:00pm- GALA Hispanic Theatre & Wit’s End Puppets present Fábulas Mayas at Atlas Performing Arts (Part of Intersections Festival)
