The 77th Annual Flower Mart at The National Cathedral takes place Friday & Saturday. This event is fun for the entire family; food, flowers, performances, carnival rides and more!

Mothers Day Weekend at Mount Vernon is Saturday and Sunday.
Join the “Mother of our Country”, Martha Washington, for Mother’s Day weekend at Mount Vernon! Stroll through Mount Vernon’s magnificent gardens in bloom. Lady Washington will give lavender sachets to all mothers (while supplies last).

Saturday-

8:00am-11:00am: Spring Celebration at Woodend Nature Sanctuary
(8940 Jones Mill Rd., Chevy Chase, MD)
Learn to identify our region’s birds on this volunteer-led walk around Woodend Nature Sanctuary. Bring your own binoculars or use ours. Join our Master Naturalists for a nature hike around Woodend Nature Sanctuary. This kid-friendly nature walk is great for all ages. Visit our Blair Native Garden to see what’s in bloom and stroll through our meadow to learn about butterflies. Take a guided tour of the historic Woodend mansion.

10:00am AND 11:30am: Music Box Series: Life in the Water
(Silver Spring Civic Building- 1 Veterans Place Silver Spring, MD 20910)
Experience a sea of musical delight. Sing about fish, dolphins and whales, and dive into music all about the water. Hosted by Shannan E. Johnson. 30 minutes prior to each concert the lobby fills with a range of musical, creative and fun activities for babies and families. Meet Puddles and the National Wildlife Service for special preconcert activities! Created for babies ages 6 months through 3 years old.  Attendees of all ages are required to have a ticket

10:00am-1:00pm: Silver Spring Nursery School Truck Touch
(10309 New Hampshire Ave, Silver Spring, MD 20903)
Our parking lot will be filled with vehicles of every kind that kids of all ages can explore. Live entertainment, food and a book sale will also be available.

12:00pm: DC Funk Festival and Parade
(U Street)
The DC Funk Parade is a daylong collaborative celebration with three parts: the day fair (12:00pm-7:00pm), the parade (4:00pm-5:00pm), and the music festival (7:00pm-10:00pm). Each part of the celebration offers different opportunities to embrace the District’s music and culture. The DC Funk Parade is free and open to the public.

5:00pm-7:oopm: Adams Morgan Summer Concert
(18th Street and Columbia Road, NW)
Expect a wide range of music styles and back by popular demand – Hula Hoops! We will have a dozen hula hoops each Saturday for adults and kids of all ages to shake your groove thang! We will also have small bottles of bubbles for kids of all ages.

 

Sunday-

10:00am-10:45am: Sunday Funday at Imagination Stage
(4908 Auburn Avenue Bethesda, Maryland 20814)
We invite you and your child to bring your favorite stories to life through dramatic play activities, movement, music, and visual art. Each session you leave with a completed craft, as well as a Parent Pack to extend the experience at home. These popular workshops are themed around beloved children’s books. Story is The Runaway Bunny.

1:30pm-3:30pm: Celebrate Mother’s Day at US Botanic Garden
(Conservatory West Gallery- 100 Maryland Ave, SW)
Looking for a fun way to celebrate Mother’s Day? It is never too early to start planning your vegetable garden. Bring your mother to the USBG and help her design and plant her very own cook’s garden! Join Danielle Cook as she whips up two recipes and savor the bounty your garden will bring. Please note: This is a drop-in program and appropriate for all ages. No pre-registration required.
