The Atlas INTERSECTIONS Festival 2016 brings the best of DC arts and artists to the stage and H Street with performances, experiences and happenings in theatre, dance, music, vocal, choral, opera, visual arts, video, film, writing, sculpture, photography, circus, spoken word, public art, community art, and art space activation. Discover how art, culture and connection happen on H Street. The festival ends March 6. Also, keep in mind James and the Giant Peach is at Adventure Theatre, JACK and Phil, Slayers of Giants-Inc is at Imagination Stage and Treasure Island ends this weekend at Encore Stage and Studio.

10:00am: Avalon Weekend Family presents Rainbow Rock Band

Are you ready to meet the rainbow? Join Rainbow Rock Band members, the Rainbow Lady (Kate Moran) and Mister Melody (Michael Mattice), as they entertain your little dudes with tunes, laughs and lots more! Winners of a Parents’ Choice Award for their debut CD, ‘Meet the Rainbow,’ this amazing team will have microphones and more for your little one to join in the fun! Don’t miss your shot to rock! 10:00am: First Studio at Kreeger Museum

Children are invited to use their imagination as they explore the paintings, sculpture, and architecture of The Kreeger Museum. Each program includes a gallery tour, a story and a hands-on art-making experience. Adult companion required and free. Children $7. See a previous post and high recommendation here.
10:15am: Childrens Talk and Tour at Strathmore
Young art lovers can get behind the brushstrokes and into the head, heart, and history of the artists with these kid-friendly Saturday tours. Children take part in an educational guided tour of the current exhibit followed by a hands-on art activity. Accompanying adults have no charge. $5 for children.
10:30am (show begins at 11:00am): Rocknoceros at Gypsy Sallys

As every family with youngsters in the Washington, DC area knows, Rocknoceros is three guys: Coach, Williebob, and Boogie Bennie. They have been making award-winning music together since 2005 and are celebrating their 10th year together with a brand new album. With the pending release of Plymouth Rockers, the band’s fifth record, Rocknoceros have hit their creative peak. The new batch of songs is sure to entertain and educate in equal measure.
11:00am-5:00pm: Nowruz: A Persian New Year Celebration at Sackler and Ripley Center

Ring in the Persian New Year at our eighth annual Nowruz celebration! With free attractions for all ages, this scaled-down version of our usual festival is held in the Sackler and adjacent Ripley Center as the Freer undergoes renovation. Activities include: Haft sin table display, Storytelling by Xanthe Gresham, Book signing by Najmieh Batmanglij, Calligraphy, Hands-on art activities, Photo booth, Food trucks and featured exhibits.
