Montgomery County Farm Tour and Harvest Sale will take place Saturday and Sunday from 10:00am-4:00pm to celebrate its agricultural heritage, promote local farms, and indulge in seasonally fresh food. Celebrate Montgomery County’s unique agricultural treasures by spending a day or two in the country petting farm animals, going on a hay ride or enjoying a freshly-picked lunch by a scenic pond. Support the local agricultural economy by purchasing fresh fruits, vegetables, flowers, plants and more at one of seventeen participating farms, plus, this year includes a special photo contest.
Citi Open is in town and tennis matches will be held through Aug.3. William H.G. Fitzgerald Tennis Center is easy to get to and sits in Rock Creek Park.

Ahoy there, mattes! Set sail with Captain Jean, the Pirate Queen on a rollicking ’round the world adventure in sailing. In this fast-moving show, kids volunteer for duty hoisting the rigging, swabbing the deck and looking for land while learning details of foreign cultures the world over. Family Garden Days are full of delicious gardening adventures. First, Washington Youth Garden instructors facilitate hands-on garden activities and projects. Then we all work together to harvest the freshest produce in the garden. Finally, chefs and nutrition experts facilitate participatory cooking demonstrations for a colorful seasonal dish we enjoy together. Bam Sam (Sam Carolla), Captain Toe Tappin (Kevin de Souza), Princess Fiddlesticks (Lynn Rovelli), or Bassious Berry (Matt Berry), to make up the Rainbow Band, will entertain your little ones with a combination of classic and original children’s tunes. Explore Italy The Golden Artist: Giotto through the story A Boy Named Giotto. Meet a shepherd boy named Giotto who becomes a famous artist, and discover how he made his paintings with gold. Stories in Art introduces children ages 4 to 7 to artists through careful looking, storytelling, and hands-on experimentation. Led by museum educators, each program includes reading a children’s book, exploring one work of art in the galleries, and completing a simple hands–on activity.
