Sunday Picks: December 3, 2017

I got too into the holiday spirit and couldn’t squeeze in a blog post on time. For those of you who were desperate for some weekend fun and bummed the weekend picks didn’t arrive in your inbox in time, I typically post events regularly on Instagram. There is a lot to do on Sunday!

10:00am-6:00pm: Ice Lounge at City Center
CityCenterDC will open a life-size, modern, ice igloo made of 36,000 pounds of ice blocks in The Park at CityCenter. Styled with plush interiors by Joseph Ireland of JD Ireland Interior Architecture + Design, this one-of-a-kind, frozen structure will allow Washingtonians to fulfill their subzero dreams for a weekend.

10:00-11:30am: Transformers: Animals and Heroes at Smithsonian National Zoo
Bring your young animal lover to the Zoo this weekend for “Transformers: Animal Action Heroes,” a preschool class for 3-5 year olds! There’s more than meets the eye to these shape shifters! Many animals change their shape or appearance sometime during their life to survive. Learn about the special powers they use to transform and change.  Zoo preschool classes are designed for children ages 3-5 to discover a whole new view of the National Zoo. “Adult-and-me” format classes use interactive learning stations, hands-on activities and crafts, Nature Play, and exciting Zoo Walks to engage your child’s sense of wonder and curiosity about wildlife and the natural world. Pre-registration is required. $28/child for FONZ members. $35/child for non-members. Registration fee covers one child with adult. Learn more and register here.
