Fun volunteer event for Rock Creek Park!
September 28, 2019 @ 9:00 am - 1:00 pm
Help celebrate National Public Lands Day on Saturday, September 28 at the Rock Creek Park Nature Center in Washington, DC.
Join from 9 AM – 1 PM to give back to your favorite park by removing invasive plants, planting new shrubs, repainting rails, cleaning up trash, and more. You will join communities across the country as part of the nation’s largest single-day volunteer effort for America’s public lands.
Volunteers will receive a complimentary lunch and a coupon for one fee-free entrance to any national park.
This event is free, but registration is required. We can’t wait to see you out in the park!
This is an extra special day because we are also celebrating Rock Creek Park Day, the anniversary of the creation of Rock Creek Park in 1890, making it the third-oldest national park. In addition to the volunteer events, there will be speakers, information booths, ranger-led talks (hiking, biking, camping tips), fun facts about history in Rock Creek Park, and more from 9 AM – 3 PM at the Nature Center. This year, we are proud that the National Environmental Education Foundation named Rock Creek Park as this year’s NPLD signature site.
