The Washington Open is an annual hard court tennis tournament played at the William H.G. FitzGerald Tennis Center in Rock Creek Park.

Fort Reno Concert Series
August 2, 5, 9, 12, 16 & 19
Shows are Monday and Thursday & music is scheduled for 7:00 to 9:30 PM. No alcohol, balloons, drugs or glass bottles allowed.

Water Lantern Festival
August 7 – 8
Water Lantern Festival is filled with fun, happiness, hope, and great memories that you’ll cherish for a lifetime. This is a family friendly event that can be shared by everyone. Friends, families, neighbors, and lots of people that you haven’t met can come together to create a peaceful, memorable experience.

Jazz in the Sculpture Garden
August 12 & 26 & Sept 9
Live music is back at the National Gallery of Art Sculpture Garden! Reconnect with classics like jazz or a brass ensemble, discover global psychedelia, and dance to New York’s first and only all-women mariachi group. Join us for this four-concert series. Gates open at 5:00 p.m., concerts start at 6:00 p.m. Free admission passes are required for all attendees ages 2 and up.

Step Afrika! at the Kennedy Center
August 12 – 14
Join the celebrated dance company along with amazing step teams and guest artists as they take over the REACH. You’ll have the opportunity to take classes in stepping, the South African gumboot dance, and more from Step Afrika!’s world-class artists for an incredible weekend.

Montgomery County Fair
August 13 – 21
Fair and carnival hours vary as do animal exhibits and family activities. Children 11 and under are free while adults cost $12.

Prince William County Fair
August 13 – 21
Fair and carnival hours vary. Animals, shows and rides!

Maryland Renaissance Fair
August 28, 29, September 4, 5, 6, 11, 12, 18, 19, 25, 26; October 2, 3, 9, 10, 16, 17, 23, 24
Take a time machine back to medieval times. With plenty of entertainment, including music, joisting, puppetry, pony rides and so much more.

Opera in the Outfield
August 28
Celebrate the twelfth season of free opera broadcasts by joining Washington National Opera at Nationals Park for Rossini’s Cinderella at 7 p.m. Gates open at 5 p.m. for pre-opera activities.
